Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova confirmed that Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will head the Russian delegation to the G20 summit in India on behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

This came according to what Zakharova said to the "TASS" agency, where she said that these instructions were issued by President Putin, and the official spokesman for the Kremlin, Dmitry Peskov, had said earlier that Putin would not go to the G-20 summit.

India has assumed the presidency of the Group of Twenty since December 1, 2022, and the summit will be held in New Delhi from September 9-10 in attendance, where all the leaders of the Group of Twenty countries will be invited, in addition to the heads of 9 other countries: Bangladesh, Egypt, Spain, Mauritius, Nigeria, the Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates, Oman and Singapore. .
